Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi is making his debut in the Tamil film industry with the Rajinikanth starrer Kaala. He plays a police officer in the movie and is elated about sharing screen space with the legendary star.

On working with the Superstar, Pankaj revealed in an interview that he was floored by his humility. Pankaj reportedly said, “My experience of shooting with Rajini sir has been amazing. He is a very humble man who used to check on me and ensure I ate on time. We have had conversations about acting, about spirituality and the film industry. When he is in front of the camera, he takes on a different persona. I learnt a lot from this experience. I knew I needed to be part of a film where I share screen space with someone of his calibre. The minute the offer came, I said ‘yes’ and I am delighted that I did.”

Kaala marks the second time collaboration of director Pa Ranjith with Rajinikanth after the success of Kabali. The story revolves around Rajinikanth, his family which comprises four sons, grandchildren, his friends and more. It will be the story of an emotional patriarch. The film is due to hit the marquee on April 27 worldwide. Bankrolled by Dhanush under his banner Wunderbar Films, Kaala has a bevy of stars in the cast, including Nana Patekar, Samuthirakani, Eswari Rao, Huma Qureshi, Anjali Patil and Sukanya.

Veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar will be seen playing a politician with a negative shade. He is returning to Tamil movies after a decade; he was last seen in Bharathiraja’s Bommalattam in a pivotal role.

Santosh Narayan is the music director for this gangster flick that has cinematography by G Murali and editing by A Sreekar Prasad. It may be mentioned here that Kaala was initially scheduled for release after Rajini’s magnum opus 2.0, directed by Shankar, was out. However, the release of 2.0 was postponed to a later date due to delay in the CG work and Kaala took up the April 27 slot originally allocated for 2.0.
