Shortly after he announced the dissolution of the Telangana Assembly, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao hit out at Congress President Rahul Gandhi, terming him a ‘buffoon.’ KCR was addressing the media after handing over to Telangana Governor the proposal to dissolve the Assembly. Governor ESL Narasimhan has approved the dissolution of the Assembly and asked him to continue as caretaker Telangana CM till the new government is formed.

“What type (of person) Rahul Gandhi is, everyone in the world knows. He’s the biggest buffoon. He’s the biggest buffoon in the country. The whole country has seen how in the open Assembly he went to Mr Narendra Modi and hugged him. The way he is winking...what is that?” KCR told the media.

During the debate on the No Confidence Motion moved by TDP in the Parliament during the Monsoon Session in July, Rahul Gandhi had hugged the Prime Minister. After he came back to his seat, he was seen on camera, winking at someone.

When asked about Rahul’s plan to come to Telangana to campaign, KCR said, “It is a property for us. We will win more seats than them. There is a limit, there is a reason.”

He also appealed to the people of Telangana ‘not to become the slaves of Delhi.'

“Rahul Gandhi inherited the legacy of the Congress Delhi Sultanate. He is the legal heir of the Congress empire of Delhi. There is a reason I appeal to people not to become slaves to Congress, slaves to Delhi. I clearly said that we must not become slaves for Delhi. Telangana’s decision should be in Telangana, and the people of Telangana should make it,” KCR added.

By choosing to dissolve the Assembly and go for early polls, KCR has made it clear that he wanted TRS to win maximum seats in both polls. KCR believes that it would be an advantage for TRS only if the polls happened at different times. Moreover, KCR would like to keep the options of alliance open during the 2019 polls.

Though he has been hobnobbing with leaders like West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC leader Mamata Banerjee and former Prime Minister and JDS supremo HD Deve Gowda who want a Federal Front to come to power, KCR has good ties with Narendra Modi too. When asked whether he would align with the NDA, he said the question does not matter as the state BJP President, K Laxman, had shunned TRS for being friends with Owaisi's AIMIM. Though KCR's equations with the state Telangana unit is one filled with animosity, that does not extend to his relationship with the BJP's central leadership.

With the Telangana Chief Minister openly insulting Rahul Gandhi, he seems to be sending an unambiguous signal that he will not ally with the Congress scion.
