The News Minute | October 30, 2014 | 11.13 am ISTProtests in Kolar district over the transfer of the Deputy Commissioner turned unruly as people threw stones at a poster of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Deputy Commissioner D K Ravi was transferred as the Additional Commissioner of Commercial Taxes (Enforcement) on Wednesday, prompting protests in the district. Ravi was widely considered to be a strict officer who took on the land mafia in clearing encroachments and also an upright officer who ensured discipline among his staff.The DC’s actions reportedly put pressure on the ruling Congress government in the state from the real estate lobby. On October 20, there were protests urging the government not to transfer him out of the district. On Thursday, the protests turned unruly. Watch the video:
