Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar reportedly refused to speak to Opposition presidential candidate Meira Kumar on Monday, despite repeated requests from the latter. Kumar was in Hyderabad on Monday, as part of her campaign.

Addressing media persons, she said that KCR refused to meet her, and even did not agree to a phone call.

KCR has already announced his support for NDA's presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind.

“I want to make an appeal to supporting me in the Presidential election. I have known the people of Telangana state and have visited the region more times than I have my native state Bihar. I have played a key role in the formation of Telangana State and in passing the historical Bill. I request Telangana MLAs and MPs cutting across parties to support me in the election,” she told a gathering.

State Congress chief Uttam Kumar Reddy said they left a message with KCR's personal secretary, but to no avail.

Reddy later lashed out at KCR, saying, “TRS is acting more like a BJP government in TS which is implementing all the decisions taken by the Central leadership without raising objections or understanding its impact on people."

While wishing the people of Telangana happiness and prosperity, Kumar said no matter how much progress the state makes and the development it achieves in terms of infrastructure and Information Technology, it would mean nothing without social justice.

Meanwhile, NDA presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind will be visiting Hyderabad on Tuesday as part of his election campaign.

The BJP's Telangana unit has planned a grand reception for the former Bihar Governor, who is expected to reach Begumpet airport in the morning. He will then drive to a city hotel to meet the BJP's members of Parliament and state legislators.

Central Ministers M. Venkaiah Naidu and Bandaru Dattatreya will be present during the meeting, said state BJP chief K. Laxman.

TRS, which has already announced its support to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) nominee, will be according a warm welcome to Kovind.

Deputy Chief Ministers Kadiam Srihari and Mohammed Mahmood Ali besides several Ministers and TRS leaders will receive Kovind at the airport.

The TRS has erected huge hoardings at busy intersections to welcome him. The hoardings carry pictures of Kovind and TRS President and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Kovind will also address the TRS's members of Parliament and legislators as part of his campaign in the city.
