The Pakistan government has responded to the Peshawar attacks by lifting a six year moratorium on criminals on death row.

Arshad Mehmood and Mohammad Aqeel became the first two on death row to be executed last week after the moratorium was lifted. A report in the Dawn newspaper has pictures of the multitude of people who had come to pay their respects at the former’s funeral.

Mehmood, who was formerly in the Pakistan military, was arrested for an attempt on former military leader Pervez Musharraf’s life in 2003. His funeral witnessed a large number of people who had turned out to pay their respects to the departed.
