Hotel chain OYO Hotels announced its foray into the upscale hotels category, starting with a range of resorts, ‘Palette Resorts’.

Similar to colours on a ‘palette’, OYO said that it was curating a range of resorts that will offer exclusively designed staycations at competitive prices.

In a statement, OYO said it was aiming at “millennials, family vacationers and wanderlusters looking for a distinct, premium and curated experience.”

Commenting on the development, Maninder Gulati - Chief of Strategy, OYO, said, ‘’OYO’s genesis lies in enabling value-driven, trustworthy experience for its guests while operating high-yielding successful businesses for its asset partners. With Palette by OYO, we are expanding our playfield to upscale resorts, while remaining committed to our core value proposition - location, quality, and price. OYO said that it was currently partnering with select resorts that offer amenities including spacious rooms and private villas.

“We are starting with a beautiful property in Pondicherry, Palette Resorts - Le Pondy. Based on our learnings on ground and feedback from our asset owners and guests, we will look to expand the footprints of Palette Resorts by OYO to other picturesque tourist destinations in India and other international markets,” Gulati added.

Palette Resorts by OYO will be operated under models of manchise, lease with full - inventory control like the economy and mid-market segments.

OYO Hotels has more than 160 cities across India, China, Malaysia and Nepal. Its network includes major metros, regional business hubs, top leisure destinations as well as pilgrimage towns.

OYO is backed by leading investors, including the SoftBank Group, Greenoak Capital, Sequoia India, Lightspeed India, Hero Enterprise and China Lodging Group.

The company also recently launched a membership program aimed at rewarding frequent customers called ‘OYO Wizard’

The newly-launched program comes with unique benefits, including guaranteed discounts, upgrades and benefits and is currently available at an early-bird membership fee of Rs 99.
