All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday was barred from entering Karnataka's Vijaypur, ahead of a scheduled public meeting on June 1, after he was served a notice.
The Times of India reported that the notice, issued by Vijaypur's district magistrate and deputy commissioner D Randeep, served at the party headquarters in Darussalaam, prohibited Owaisi from speaking at the meeting at Afzalpur Takiya for a period of seven days starting from June 1.
Alleging that this was a move to stop the party from growing in Vijaypura, Owaisi told Deccan Chronicle that “I will abide by the order, though the contents of the notice that my visit will create law and order problems are completely baseless."
The MP also took to Twitter to express his views on the notice.
