In a new trend, many smartphone makers are adopting the practice of relaunching their already released models with a few changes and upgrades, without altering the name. The latest to join this group is the Oppo A71 or more precisely, the Oppo A71 (2018). The phone was earlier released in Pakistan and now, it has been made available for the Indian market as well.
The Oppo A71 sports a 5.2-inch HD display with a screen resolution of 1280x720 pixels. It’s a TFT display keeping the aspect ratio at the traditional 16:9. The main processor is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC that clocks a speed of 1.8GHz and it is an octa-core processor. The RAM is 3GB, although the 2018 model unveiled for global release, including the one being sold in Pakistan has only 2GB RAM.
The internal storage is 16GB with the provision for a standalone slot for a microSD card to take the storage up to 256GB. The Android Nougat version 7.1 with the Color OS 3.2 version skin acting as the UI runs the new Oppo A71 (2018). The dimensions of the phone are 148.1mmx73.8mmx7.6mm and its weight 137 grams.
The camera section sees a 13MP rear sensor supported by a LED flash and the front sensor for selfies has a 5MP camera. The upgrade Oppo has brought about in the Oppo A71 in the 2018 edition is in the imaging technology, where, an AI-based Beauty Recognition Technology beautifies the face of the selfie image clicked. The technology digs deep into a global database to bring on the best attributes on the face and the final output reflects these improvements. A Multi-Frame Denoising Technology and Ultra HD Technology have also been added to this device, making Oppo once again claim that its smartphones are known more for their imaging capabilities.
A decent 3000mAh battery completes the hardware specs. All communications options including 4G VoLTE are available for the users of the Oppo A71 (2018).
The Oppo A71 (2018) phone’s price has also been slashed to Rs 9,990 from the Rs 12,990 Oppo sold it for last September. The phone is already on sale on Flipkart and is likely to be on Amazon and Snapdeal also in a few days. The price of the original Oppo A71 has also been re-adjusted to Rs 9,999.
