If you thought OnePlus gave a run for their money to the biggies like Apple and Samsung in the smartphones arena, wait till the Chinese company comes out with its television. Though the OnePlus television, as and when launched, won’t be limited to the Indian market alone, it is relevant to point out that a brand like Xiaomi has been building the heat on established players like Samsung, LG and Sony. OnePlus television can do another Xiaomi here and elsewhere.

All that is for later when the television from the OnePlus stable is out in the market. As it stands, there is only a tweet from Ishan Agarwal, known for such predictions. In his tweet, Agarwal claims the OnePlus television is arriving but he may not himself buy it since it won’t have an OLED panel. Now, where he got this particular detail from is not clear, but there is no official word yet from OnePlus on the specs of the television they intend to launch.

There have however been some hints directly from the CEO of OnePlus, Pete Lau who is usually the spokesperson for the company on their intentions of launching a television. What is not known is when this may happen. Agarwal says soon.

The only other aspect being discussed is the comment by Lau in Europe some months earlier that the smart TV that OnePlus has on the drawing table will not have the conventional remote to control the TV. Possibly, the television may have a voice assistant built into it to enable the user to change channels or switch programmes through voice commands. Again, this is mere conjecture and till the company issues a full statement with the specifications of the proposed OnePlus television, it is difficult to confirm any of these. The company has even asked the public at large to suggest a suitable name for their new product.
