Even as police stepped up security in Dakshina Kannada district on Friday after the death of a youngster who was stabbed on Thursday evening, another stabbing incident occurred on Saturday evening.

Times of India reported that the youth was stabbed by unidentified persons on a bike. The incident happened in Ullal town near Dakshina Kannada district.

Police told TOI that the incident happened while the youngster and his friend were riding towards Konaje. Two people on the bike stopped and stabbed them. The pillion rider escaped injuries. The youth who suffered multiple injuries was rushed to Wenlock District Hospital.

Additional police personnel have been deployed in the Ullal limits to avoid any more untoward incidents, said TOI report.

The newspaper quoted deputy commissioner SB Ibrahim saying, “The law-and-order situation in the district is by and large peaceful. All the five people who are in hospital after stabbings and assaults will be discharged within two days.”

Transportation and commercial activities in Mangaluru resumed amid prohibitory orders on Saturday.

Stabbing incident on Thursday in which a man named Harish lost his life, led Dakshina Kannada police to impose Section 144 of the CrPC in the entire district for three days.

Harish and his friend Samiullah, who were returning from a game of cricket, were stabbed by a gang on Thursday evening. The incident happened in Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada district. Harish succumbed to the injuries immediately, while Samiullah was admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

Ibrahim said, “Most of the accused are... being questioned in connection with the untoward incidents. All religious, political and other programmes should be held only after obtaining permission from the district administration.”
