Ten days of Onam is the time when Malayalis across the world adorn cream and gold attires, wearing the 'Malayali' tag proudly on their sleeve.
But this year, though Onam celebrations have become bigger in college and school campuses, the cream and gold seems to have made a quiet retreat, at least in many campuses.
Instead, boys and girls have been turning up in black or bright shades, all thanks to current movie trends.
Right on top of the trend is Nivin Pauly starrer ‘Premam’. The movie fever as spread so seriously tat youngsters have been turning up in black and white rather than cream and gold.
If the black wasn't enough, the dark shades have destroyed the Onam look completely.
And it's not just the boys who are suffering from the 'Premam' fever.

The actors too are lining up to claim credit for the latest Onam look. Actor Jayasurya recently claimed that a group of college students, dressed in black shirts and red dhoties, has imitated his look in the film ‘Aadu’.
As if to ensure that the young brigade of actors don't walk away with all the credit, even Mohanlal and Mammootty's looks in hit movies have made a comeback.
The trends set by the old hit films like Mohanlal’s Spadikam and Mammootty’s Kottayam Kunjachan have also been reverted and its traces were able to spot in few campuses. The controversial Onam celebrations at CET Thiruvananthapuram campus and Adoor IHRD Engineering college campus had a lorry with the banner “Chekuthan” or 'devil', just like Mohanlal's Aadu Thoma in Spadikam Mohanlal.
Mammootty'S Kottayam Kunjachan style white Kurta and white dhoti were also spotted in some of the colleges.
