The News Minute | November 24, 2014 | 5.15 pm ISTA man was arrested on Monday by Bengaluru police for attempting to misuse the provisions of the POCSO act, and tried to extort money from the authorities of the school where his son studied. The arrested is Rajesh Karvi, who was caught while receiving Rs 1 lakh in cash after he threatened to go to the police saying that his son had been sexually assaulted. Karvi had approached the principal of Radhakrishna Public School in in Basaveshwara Extension in nagashetty Halli claiming that he was a journalist and demanding Rs 2 lakh alleging that his son had been sexually abused. A case was registered under Section 384 of the Indian Penal Code with the Sanjaynagar police on Monday on the basis of the principal Sunitha’s complaint and a trap was laid. After negotiating, Karvi settled for Rs 1.5 lakh and received Rs 1 lakh in the school, at which point, he was arrested by police. Investigations are on.
