A few weeks ago, news surfaced that Ajith’s next film would be directed by Siva yet again. The two have collaborated on three films – Veeram, Vedhalam and Vivegam – and Viswasam would be their fourth outing together.
Vivegam, an action entertainer that had Ajith playing the role of a military official, hit the screens in August this year and turned out to be one of the biggest hits, grossing Rs 100 crores at the box office. The film had Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi also playing a pivotal role in it.
For Viswasam, the filmmakers are planning to rope in the Malayalam star Nivin Pauly for a pivotal role. Sources in the know say that the star has been approached for the role, but he is yet to sign on the dotted line to confirm his presence.
Nivin Pauly, a popular actor among the Malayali film buffs, is not new to the Tamil film audiences. He had made his debut in Kollywood with Neram, a bilingual in Tamil and Malayalam that was directed by Alphonse Puthren.
His upcoming Tamil release Richie, which is the remake of the Kannada hit movie Ulidavaru Kandanthe, will hit the screens on December 8. Apart from this film, he also has the Malayalam film Hey Jude in post-production. He also has Kayamkulam Kochunni, a film on the legendary highwayman, of the same name and the bilingual Moothon, made in Malayalam and Hindi by director Geetu Mohandas.
If reports about Nivin sharing screen space with Ajith turn out to be true, films buffs are sure to be in for a special treat. As buzz is that the project would go on the floors in January next year, we can expect official word on this anytime soon.
