The News Minute| January 2, 2015| 3.00 pm ISTAlmost 15 lives were reportedly lost in accidents on the roads of Kerala at different places in New Year eve. Among them the most tragic was the death of 6 Engineering students at Kollam in the car accident. Their car hit a truck early Thursday morning, and all of them died on the spot and it was difficult to even pull out their bodies from the car, which was completely wrecked in the collision.Thiruvananthapuran city alone witnessed 16 road accidents which took two lives. Several others are in hospital with severe injuries. Accidents at Kodungalloor and Chavakkad have also resulted in tragic deaths of four people on the spot.Though Kerala traffic police had said that they had implemented strict regulations to avoid mishaps in the New Year eve, almost 30 road accidents had been reported in one particular day.Elaborate arrangements were made and forces were assigned in the roads on 31st night. "We were vigilant, but still some accidents had happened. People are least bothered about the traffic rules especially during celebrations” R.
