London-based architect firm Norman Foster and Partners submitted four model designs of government buildings for Andhra Pradesh’s new capital Amaravati to the state government on Wednesday.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu conducted a meeting on the same, at the temporary secretariat in Velagapudi.

The Chief Minister observed four model designs of the government structures, which will be built on 900 acres of land.

Naidu said thatthe help and advice of local architects should also be taken into consideration, beside taking advice from national and international experts.

Following the meeting, the Andhra CM said that the government structures and buildings will be iconic and built uniformly.

The Assembly, Court buildings and other structures which are to come up in the government block will be unique, the chief minister added.

“Amaravati will be one among the top five cities in the world. Amaravati will have the culture, tradition, history and the legacy of the Telugu tradition,”said Naidu.

The Chief Minister had convened a meeting with all ministers, secretaries, and heads of the departments to showcase the concept designs of Norman Foster.

Stating that Amaravati was the people’s capital, Naidu also decided to take people’s suggestion through social media.

“A special web portal will be setup to take suggestion from all the Telugu people who are living abroad. Besides this, people can also voice their opinion on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube,” Naidu said.

The architects from the firm will take suggestions and inputs for the concept designs, which were presented, and a detailed action plan is expected be submitted later. A construction plan will also be submitted at a later stage.
