There have been rumours that the Nagarjuna starrer Manmadhudu 2 is a remake. Reports are that it is a remake of a foreign film but the title has not been disclosed yet. The filmmakers are playing the cards close to their chest so that the suspense factor remains intact. From what we understand, Manmadhudu 2 will be modified completely to suit the sensibilities of the local audiences.

Sources told Deccan Chronicle, “The filmmakers have kept the name of the original under wraps and don’t want to reveal it as they worry that the audience might watch the movie with pre-conceived notions. And they are apprehensive that the film will be judged much before they see it onscreen.”

Nagarjuna plays the lead role in this romantic entertainer which has Rakul Preet Singh and Keerthy Suresh in the star cast. According to reports, both Keerthy Suresh and Rakul Preet Singh will be seen as his love interest in this flick. Interestingly, Nag’s daughter-in-law Samantha Akkineni will be making a guest appearance in it and has shot for her portions already. The major portion of this film is being shot at some picturesque locations in Europe as the story is set there.

Manmadhudu 2 is being directed by Rahul Ravindran of Chi La Sow fame. Those in the supporting roles include Vennela Kishore, Rao Ramesh, Nassar, Lakshmi, Devadarshini, Jhansi, etc. Chaithan Bharadwaj is composing music for this romantic comedy. The film is being bankrolled jointly by Nag’s Manam enterprises and P Kiran’s Anandi Art Creations.

Manmadhudu, a 2002 rom com, had Akkineni Nagarjuna in the lead role and he had bankrolled the venture under his home banner Annapurna Studios. The film was a big hit in his career and after all these years, a sequel to it is being made. It may be noted here that Manmadhudu was directed by Vijaya Bhaskar with its story, screenplay and dialogues penned by the ace director Trivikram Srinivas.
