Akhil Akkineni’s second film as hero started to roll a few weeks ago, raising speculations about the heroine. One of the rumours that had surfaced was that Sri Devi’s daughter, Kushi Kapoor, would be making her acting debut with this Telugu flick. However, there was no official confirmation on the matter.

When Nagaruna was spotted at an airport recently, a few media persons quizzed him about Kushi’s inclusion in the project to which the actor-producer replied that there is no truth in it.

He added that the heroine for the project has not been finalised yet. Directed by Vikram Kumar of 13B and Manam fame, the Akhil Akkineni starrer is being bankrolled by Nagarjuna’s Annapurna Studios.

It took nearly two years for Nagarjuna to finalise the script for Akhil’s second film as he had wanted a lot of changes to be incorporated. With Akhil’s debut film receiving a lukewarm response at the box office, Nag ensured that Vikram Kumar had a mass entertainer for his dear son, say sources.

Confirming that the film’s pooja has been done, Nag posted on a micro-blogging site, “Patience always pays off!! Puja done and Akhil's movie is on.” And Akhil had posted, “Annapurna studios production no.29 on floors tomorrow. In this heat we are going to turn on the heat, can't express my joy in words !!!"

Akhil, son for the star couple Nagarjuna and Amala, made his acting debut with Ssindri way back in 1995 as a child artiste. He went to play a small role in the Vikram Kumar directorial Manam, which had the three generations of the Nag family – Nageswara Rao, Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya.

His debut as hero came with the 2015 release Akhil, which was directed by VV Vinayak. The film fetched Akhil the Filmfare Best Debut Actor Award.
