Actor Shruti Haasan has been a favourite target for trolls for a while now. Recently, the actor's weight gain became an excuse for haters to congregate again.

“Finally, you are fat! Congratulations and welcome to the FatClub,” says one of the tweets body-shaming her for gaining weight for her upcoming film Behen Hogi Teri.

In a fitting reply to the fat-shamers, Shruti Haasan told Mid-day, "It's my face, my body. What I do with it is nobody's business. What people write about me on social media does not bother me. I am not answerable to anyone."

She was not only trolled for gaining weight for the movie but for undergoing a lip job, too.

Shruti pointed out that actors have to constantly lose and gain weight for their roles.

"Looking good is part of our job, but the unnecessary chatter about weight must be filtered. To maintain an 'acceptable' figure for an actress is impossible. We are human. We gain and lose weight for roles, and sometimes naturally too," she says, confessing that she submitted to a regimen that was "beyond human" when she entered the industry.

Previously, Shruti has been trolled for getting a nose job and for playing the role of Malar in the Telugu version of the Malayalam blockbuster Premam. The role was played by Sai Pallavi in the original and the Internet seemed singularly displeased that the makers of the Telugu version had picked Shruti to play it.

Shruti's film Behen Hogi Teri, in which she stars with Rajkummar Rao, will be released on June 9 and is being directed by Ajay K Pannalal. She is also part of Sabaash Naidu, a bilingual in Tamil-Telugu in which she's acted with her father Kamal Haasan.
