After delivering blockbusters such as Thuppaki and Kaththi, filmmaker A.R Murugadoss and actor Vijay are teaming up for the third time for Vijay 62 and the project is likely to roll from October this year, reliable sources have confirmed. On Sunday, reports have surfaced that Sun Pictures, best known for producing Rajinikanth’s Enthiran, will bankroll the project on a lavish budget. They have supposedly finalised the film’s lead cast.
Anirudh Ravichander and G.V Prakash Kumar, both known for their successful collaboration with Vijay in films such as Kaththi and Theri respectively, are said to be in discussion to join the project as composer.
The project was supposed to happen even before Theri, but for reasons unknown it was delayed and is finally taking shape. During the release of Akira, his last Hindi outing, Murugadoss had confirmed that a project with Vijay was on the cards. In 2013, he had also tweeted that he will be reuniting with Vijay and that he is thrilled about it.
It is believed that the shoot of Mersal, which marks the second time collaboration of Vijay and Atlee, will be wrapped up by August. Vijay will take a short break post Mersal and commence work on Vijay 62 from October or November.
It’s tipped to be another action entertainer from Murugadoss, who is busy wrapping up his long delayed Spyder, a bilingual thriller with superstar Mahesh Babu. The project is slated to hit the screens this Dasara.
