The weapon used in the rape and murder of Jisha has been recovered by police on Thursday evening.

The knife used for the murder was recovered from the lodge where the accused earlier stayed near Perumbavoor.

The suspect was nabbed by police from Kancheepuram on Monday.

Though the suspect had earlier said that the knife was thrown in the canal near Jisha’s house, he reportedly gave exact details to the police later. Manorama online reports that the knife still had blood stains on it.

Police have not yet confirmed whether Jisha was raped after death or before.

Police sources say that the arrested suspect keeps changing his statements.

Media also reports that the suspect’s name is Amirul Islam, though the press note from the police has not yet confirmed the name.

When the suspect was brought to the Aluva Police club for questioning, some of the media person’s called out the name ‘Amir’ and he is said to have looked back.  This is the only evidence media reports quote.
