Ever since Malayalam superstar Mohanlal released a poster from his upcoming film Velipadinte Pusthakam, movie buffs have been intrigued. The poster has Mohanlal standing in a classroom with the black board behind him. Well, that sounds like a usual classroom setting until one gets a closer look of what’s written on the board!

Apparently, Mohanlal plays a college vice principal in the film and the words on the board “Welcome to Dracula” indicate that it could be the handiwork of some mischievous students. The relationship between the students and the strict Vice Principal Michael Idikkula forms the crux of the story.

Directed by Lal Jose, this campus comedy drama has Anna Reshma Rajan as the female lead. Those playing supporting roles include Salim Kumar, Priyanka Nair, Anoop Menon, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Shivaji Guruvayoor, Alencier Ley Lopez, Arun Kurian and Sarath Kumar.

The shooting of Velipadinte Pusthakam commenced on17th May 2017 at the St. Xavier's College in Thumba, Thiruvananthapuram and has been progressing rapidly. Written by Benny P. Nayarambalam and directed by Lal Jose, the film will have music composed by Shaan Rahman. Vishnu Sarma is the director of photography and Rajan Abraham will be in charge at the editing table.

The film is bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner Aashirvad Cinemas and will be distributed by Maxlab Cinemas and Entertainments. Reports about the film’s release date reveal that it could hit the marquee on September 1st and the team is working towards this deadline.

Though director Lal Jose made his debut in 1998 and has directed popular stars like Mammooty, Dileep, and Dulquer Salmaan, this is the first time in his career he is wielding the megaphone for a Mohanlal starrer. This is one of the reasons for expectations to skyrocket.
