Mystery shrouds the death of a 14-year-old girl, who went missing on Sunday, but was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Hyderabad.
Vaishnavi, a resident of Meerpet, was found dead early on Monday morning near a church, close to her residence.
Locals who noticed the body, alerted the police following which police had brought in the CLUES team and dog squad to gather evidence at the spot. After thorough examination near the spot, they later shifted the body to Osmania Gandhi Hospital for an autopsy.
Police also enquired with the parents if they suspected someone, who could have killed her. However, it is learnt that the parents didn’t name anyone.
While locals suspect that someone must have abducted, killed and later dumped the girl at the church, police are still investigating the murder angle.
In a bizarre turn of events, according to the police, the doctors who performed the autopsy said that the girl had no external injuries, but her liver was damaged which could have caused her death.
“The doctors who conducted the autopsy orally told us that it does not seem like a murder. According to them, the liver was severely damaged. We checked with their parents to understand if she had any serious health condition, but they said that she was healthy,” Vanasthalipuram ACP C Gandhinarayana told TNM.
He further added that the body was kept under special preservation for further examination.
Vaishnavi was a Class 8 student, studying in a nearby government school. On Sunday, she went for a walk and didn’t return, following which her parents—Prabhu and Anasuya, filed a complaint with the Meerpet police that same evening.
Before the police could trace the missing girl, she was found dead under mysterious circumstances.
Police are still probing the case and further details are awaited.
“The body is still under special preservation. We can determine the cause of the death only after the final postmortem report,” the ACP said.
