Director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, following the release of his critically acclaimed films Chola and S Durga, has started working on his next film. The upcoming movie, which is reportedly titled Kayattam, features Manju Warrier in the lead.

The team had begun shooting for the film last week in the Himalayas and Manju is also a part of the current schedule.

Meanwhile, Sanal Kumar's Chola was recently selected for the competition section of the Venice Film Festival, that begins this month. It is the only Indian film to have made it to the Orizzonti Competition category at the prestigious movie gala which is being held from August 28 and goes on till September 7. The director will attend the screening along with the cast Joju George and Nimisha Sajayan. Chola is among the 19 international films picked for Orizzonti, which runs parallel to the main competition category.

Manju Warrier has some enviable films in her kitty right now, including Priyadarshan’s Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham and Santosh Sivan’s Jack n Jill in Malayalam. The shooting of Jack N Jill, which commenced last year, has wrapped up. It has been some years that ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan has donned the director’s robes. His last directorial was Inam in 2014. The film is bankrolled by the Dubai based company, Lensman Studios. Its technical crew comprises debut music director Ram Surendar with BK Harinarayanan penning the lyrics. Santosh Sivan is cranking the camera for this venture with Renjith roped in for editing.    

Marakkar, made on a budget of Rs 100 crores, is produced jointly by Antony Perumbavoor, Santhosh T Kuruvilla and CJ Roy under their respective banners Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment. The shooting of this film has been wrapped up and it is currently in the post-production mode. 

Manju Warrier is also making her Tamil debut with the Dhanush-Vetrimaaran project, Asuran. The film stars Dhanush, who will essay the role of a father as well as the son, and Manju Warrier is paired opposite the older version of the character that Dhanush will play.
