Television personality and theatre artiste, Manish Rishi is all set to make his big screen debut with the Kannada movie Operation Alamelamma. Written and directed by Suni, the film is produced jointly by Amrej Suryavanshi and Suni under the banner Suni Cinemas and Star Fab. While Rishi plays the lead role in this suspense comedy thriller, it has Sharddha Srinath as his heroine with Rajesh Nataranga, Aruna Balaraj, Vijeth Gowda, Pranaya Murthy, Sumukha and Karthik.

In an interview to the Deccan Chronicle, Rishi narrated the sequence of events that led him to the role, Purmy, in Operation Alamelamma. As stated by the actor in the interview, “I did a Kannada serial called Anuroopa, and Suni Sir got to know about me. He told me about the character he wanted me to play and said that he was looking for someone who looked like a commoner. I was excited and could instantly connect with the script.”

Though the film is touted to be a thriller, it will be loaded with comedy and romance, promised Rishi. Stating that comedy comes naturally to the director, the romance factor is also included making sure that it is not forced.

Apart from Operation Alamelamma, Rishi has also bagged another offer where he will be seen as a cop. To be directed by Hemanth Rao and co-produced by Puneeth Rajkumar, the film has been titled Kaavali Daari, revealed the actor. On signing the deal, Rishi said in the interview, “I’m really happy I’m doing it. I’d met Hemanth for one of his projects before, but it never took off. He went on to do Godhi Banna and I went on to do my work. When my film’s teaser released, Hemanth was looking to cast someone and he thought I suited the role. In fact, he’d told me earlier that he’d seen me in an officer’s role and if he happens to write such a character, he would cast me!”
