Syed Sadiq Sameer who was acquitted recently in Hubballi terror case by a local court, said that IPS officer Alok Kumar had pressurised him to become an approver in the case, reported Deccan Herald.A businessman from Bengaluru, he said Alok Kumar had called him even before he was taken to the magistrate and was asked to become an approver. When he refused the offer, the police charge-sheeted him, he alleges.“This offer was given to me repeatedly at the CID office, as well. I was not told what I should do after becoming approver,” he was quoted as saying by the paper.Syed Akmal Hassan Razvi, a High Court advocate and member of the Association for Protection of Civil Rights said many of the witnesses in the case were from Karnataka Rakshana Vedike who were against an accused Dr. Asif, for making arrangements in his hostel room for prayers.A local court had recently acquitted all the 17 accused after the prosecution failed to prove charges. In reference to that, Razvi said, “The judge further doubted the seizure of the explosives stating that they could have been planted, as suggested by the defence.”
