Mammotty's 'My Tree Challenge' crosses oceans

The “My Tree Challenge†campaign started by Malayalam actor Mammooty, for planting a sapling and challenging others to do so, has got acceptance in other countries, with an Australian Mayor taking up the challenge. Stuart Slade, mayor of the Glenorchy city council planted a gum tree in Tasmania, an island city in Australia and named it ‘Gandhi’. He has also challenged the mayors of Melbourne, New York, Paris and London to take up the challenge.
The mayor came to know about the challenge from Sajini Sumar Chairperson of Multi-cultural Women’s council of Tasmania. As per the reports mayor thanked Mammooty for this novel concept and said that this can be a new venture to save the planet from pollution. He has also invited Mammooty to Tasmania.“My Tree Challengeâ€campaign was launched by actor Mammooty on August 30th by planting a tamarind tree in the premises of Grand Hyatt Hotel, Dubai and it was followed by many celebrities. He had nominated Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and popular Tamil actors Vijay and Suriya, to take up the challenge.
