In a truly encouraging gesture by mainstream Malayalam cinema, superstar Mammootty and reigning young Mollywood talents Fahadh Fasil and Ashiq Abu have come forward to promote a critically acclaimed regional movie ‘Ozhivu Divasathe Kali’ (An Off-Day Game) that had gone on to win the state film award for the best film in Kerala last  year.

Directed by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan who bagged the state’s best director award for his maiden film ‘Oraalpokkam’ in 2014, the movie has been making waves in the film festival circuits all over the country with its sharply incisive socio-political satire on the current inter-dynamics playing out in society as a whole.

Actor Mammootty on Saturday conveyed his best wishes to the whole team on Facebook for the movie’s theatrical release on June 17 in over 25+ theatres across Kerala with the backing of film-maker Ashiq Abu who is officially promoting the movie which otherwise would not have reached the masses, going by past experiences.

Terming it a brilliant movie, Ashiq has posted a video of himself exhorting one and all to catch the movie in the theatres on the first day itself so as to ensure a massive response to all such artistic ventures, thereby setting a welcome precedence for all film-makers who choose roads less travelled in the world of cinema.

Actor Fahadh Fasil too informed his fans on Facebook about the impending movie release. With Mollywood rallying around for what could possibly be the very first time to promote a movie that was made with no commercial intentions, the director hopes this trend will continue well into the future.
