Director Major Ravi will be associating with veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan for his upcoming film with Mohanlal in the lead, Kunjali Marakkar. Confirming this through a social networking site, he wrote, "Priyardarshan is my Guru. So I will be joining him on the sets of 'Kunjali Marakkar' and assist him.”

On his other film, he revealed, “My Mohanlal project will start after that. It will be a story set in a village. The memories of the film 'Aram Thamburan' is still afresh in the minds of many. So our film will be pitched along those lines. A couple of stories are in mind.”

Stating that he is currently focused in the programs at the National Academy of Pre-Recruitment Training (NAPT) for the Indian Army, Major Ravi revealed that he will be shifting his attention to films once he is done with it.

It may be mentioned here that both Priyadarshan, as well as Santosh Sivan, had announced that they would be making a film on the legendary warrior Kunjali Marakkar. While Priyadarshan had roped in Mohanlal, Santosh Sivan will be working with Mammootty.

According to the details available in Wikipedia, “The Kunhali Marakkar or Kunjali Marakkar was the title given to the Muslim naval chief of the Zamorin (Samoothiri), Hindu king of Calicut, in present-day state of Kerala, India during the 16th century.”

Major Ravi, after serving in the Indian Army for well over two decades, shifted his focus to films. Apart from directing films such as Keerthi Chakra, Karma Yodha, Mission 90 Days, Kandahar, 1971: Beyond Borders, he had worked with top filmmakers and actors such as Priyadarshan, Rajkumar Santhoshi, Kamal Haasan, and Mani Ratnam.

On the other hand, director Santosh Sivan is busy with his own version of Kunjali Marakkar. Reports are that the teaser of this film may be out for Eid this year.
