The ending of Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi starrer Vikram Vedha leaves one with many questions. In the last scene, Madhavan and Vijay point guns at each other and we don’t know what happens between them. The ambiguous ending hinted at a sequel and the film’s producer Sashikanth has confirmed it in his latest interview to Indiaglitz. He said that here could be a possibility of a sequel and also confirmed that talks are underway for the film’s Telugu and Hindi remake.

In its first week in cinemas, the film reportedly grossed over Rs. 40 crore worldwide and has emerged as the biggest direct film at the box-office in the US after Baahubali 2. Reports have emerged that actors Rana Daggubati and Venkatesh are being considered for the film’s Telugu remake and apparently talks have already been initiated with them.

Producer Sashikanth of Y Not Studios had discussed the idea with Venkatesh while working on the Telugu film Guru, a remake of Irudhi Suttru, which had released earlier this year. Even before the release of Vikram Vedha, the plan was to remake the film with Rana and Venkatesh in Telugu. Although no official announcement has been made yet, it looks like the project will materialize in a few months.

In the film, directed by Pushkar-Gayatri, Madhavan plays an encounter cop while Vijay Sethupathi plays a gangster. The directors had admitted in several of their media interactions that the lead characters of the film are based on Vikram and Betaal, the characters from popular folklore and that they’ve given the story a contemporary twist.
