They were a power couple. The director with a magic touch and an actor who played the girl-next-door role perfectly. But after twenty four years of marriage, director Priyadarshan and actor Lissy have decided to part ways.
In a press statement Lissy said, "It is with profound sadness that I am announcing that myself and Sri Priyadarshan have decided to get separated after 24 years of marriage. I have filed for divorce today in Chennai family court. Both our children and close friends are aware of this decision. As you can imagine it is a very difficult period in our lives and I request all of you to respect our privacy.”
Though news of the couple separating had emerged last year, they had staunchly denied it then. The couple has a son Siddarth and daughter Kalyani, both of whom are studying in Singapore. After her marriage to Priyadarshan in 1990, Lissy stopped acting in films. He met Lissy for the first time when she was 16 in the sets of film Odaruthammava Alariyam.
Priyadarshan is a name to reckon with in the Malayalam film industry and struck gold in Bollywood with Akshay Kumar's Hera Pheri. Lissy a co-owner of Kerala Strikers from Celebrity Cricket League is expected to make a comeback to movies soon.
