Frames Film Festival is an annual fest conducted by the BMM department of SIES college, Nerul. The fest's 16th edition will be coming up on the 10th, 11th and 12th of January, 2019. This fest is India's largest undergraduate film festival which gives amateur filmmakers a platform to portray their vision to film lovers.

‘Frames’ gets a footfall of around 3,000 people and receives more than 4,500 entries from all over the world like FTII, London Film Academy and New York Film Academy.

The first edition of the fest was held in 2003 and since then, there are different themes that cover various aspects of society portrayed through films. This year, the theme is Director’s Cut: An ode to the makers which is a salute to various directors in the film industry and their vision to portray art in its purest form.

The BMM department also did a CSR initiative in Nere High School, Panvel where underprivileged kids were shown animated movies in order to inculcate interest towards movies. They also hosted a pre-event called MEHFILM, where Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was screened under a starlit sky in the college premises.

There are 7 categories created for film submissions:- National Short Films, International Short Films, Ad Films, Music videos, Animation Films, Documentaries and Contingent Films.

All the above-mentioned categories are judged by prominent people from the film industry. This year, some of those who will be attending the 3-day fest are Kavita Seth who is a singer well known for songs like Iktara and Jeete Hain Chal and Sanjay Gupta, a gifted producer and screenwriter known for his films like Kaabil and Zinda. Some other personalities gracing the event are Tanuj Virvani, who is a proclaimed actor known for Luv U Soniyo and Purani Jeans and Rakesh Bedi who is famous for his comedy roles in films like Chashme Buddoor and in TV series like Yes Boss.

A panel discussion called the Insight, powered by Film Companion, will be held on the topic 'Society in motion'.

The 16th edition aims at giving more amateur filmmakers a chance to showcase their vision and tries to keep up with the dynamic language of films and the thought processes behind them. With the now increasing demands of good films from the audience, the fest focuses to elevate the already set bars of excellence.

The itinerary for the 3 days will be as follows:-

10th Jan: Inauguration, International Short Films, National Short Films

11th Jan: Contingent Films, Documentaries, Ad Films

12th Jan: Animation Films, Music Videos, Award Ceremony
