South Korean major LG is out with its next flagship, the LG G7 ThinQ and the LG G7 ThinQ+. On the face of it, there are no major variations between the two, except that the ‘+’ model sports a higher RAM as well as internal storage.

The new smartphones come with 6.1-inch QHD+ display, which is practically bezel free and the aspect ratio is 19.5:9. And the notch that was started by the iPhone X last year can be seen on the front screen. The device has been provided with a glass body construction on the rear as well, to facilitate wireless charging.

LG has gone in for the latest generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 CPU and the RAM support is 4GB in the case of the LG G7 ThinQ and 6GB in the case of the G7 ThinQ+. The internal storage on the 2 devices is 64GB and 128 GB respectively and the provision for a microSD card means the user can take the storage to a mighty 2TB. The battery fitted on the phones is 3000mAh.

These are specs you would expect from any top-end offering from these technologically strong manufacturers. But LG has packed these devices with features all round with AI playing a key role. Firstly, there is the dedicated Google Assistant button which can be used to bring up Google Lens and the voice-based assistant as well. The Super Far-Field Voice Recognition (SFFVR) technology and “Boombox Speakers” are unique additions meant to make the overall user experience immersive. The speakers, LG claims, can deliver 10 times louder audio than the standard phones in the market.

The camera setup has 16MP + 16MP dual-sensor arrangement in the rear and an 8MP sensor in the front for selfies. AI, again, is very much in the centre of the different camera features, including the 19 different modes that can be set while clicking pictures.

The LG G7 ThinQ and G7 ThinQ+ come with the IP 68 certification for dust and water resistance and are ready for launch in the home market South Korea to begin with. New Aurora Black, New Moroccan Blue, New Platinum Grey, and Raspberry Rose are the colour variants the phones will be released in.

There is no confirmation yet on the pricing of these devices. Though LG will eventually bring the phones to the Indian market, buyers may have to wait a while.
