Chinese phone maker Lephone has launched a new phone for the Indian market and it has a 4.5 inch display. The Lephone W2’s display is of the FWVGA type. The other specifications of the phone meet the minimal requirements of a smartphone.
The quad-core processor in this new phone offers a clocking speed of 1.3GHz, which is decent enough, when you consider that the phone comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal memory. The storage capacity can, of course, be expanded to 32GB through a microSD card.
The Lephone W2 comes fitted with a 2MP rear camera while the camera mounted in the front of the phone for taking selfies is a VGA one. There is a LED flash provision with the rear camera. Again, quite the minimum specs taking into consideration the specs and features you will come across, particularly from the Chinese smartphones.
Though the Android Marshmallow version 6 is the underlying OS, the Lephone W2 comes with the in-house 360 skin that supports many apps on the device.
These Chinese smartphones are normally released with a large number of emojis and symbols since the average Chinese are quite fond of texting using many of these symbols along with the texts.
In addition to the emojis the LePhone W2, at least the handsets being sold in the Indian market, have been equipped with the capability to communicate in 22 different Indian languages. These include Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Malaylalam, Telugu, Kashmiri and even a language like Dogri. Some of the localized dialects like Maithili, Santhali and Konkani have also been included, which should prove to be a USP while marketing the device.
The ‘360’ support also packs some useful contributions in running apps on the Lephone W2.
The phone is being offered in four different color variants; rose+ gold, white and gold, and black and golden
The phone comes at a price of just Rs 3, 999 and is already on sale through offline retailers across the country.
