A first-year student studying in Shanthi Junior College, Jagtial was physically attacked by a lecturer on Friday after the student allegedly asked him to keep his announcement about the college fresher's party brief.

The incident caught on camera shows the lecturer, identified as Siddhi Raju, slapping and punching the student indiscriminately.

According to reports, the victim, Guggila Manoj Kumar studies Civics, Economics and Commerce. Siddhi Raju, a lecturer teaching Chemistry, had come to his class to make an announcement about the college fresher's party. However, Manoj had asked him to make his announcement quick. Provoked by his interruption, the agitated lecturer pulled Manoj by his hair and indiscriminately attacked him.

He's then seen pulling his collar, and slapping another student in the class as well.

Still agitated, he again rushed to Manoj and attacked him, warning him and pushing his face against the desk.

Manoj told media, “When sir came to make an announcement about the fresher's party, I asked him to make it quick. And then he started beating me.”

Following the incident, Manoj's brother Raju approached police asking them to take necessary action against the lecturer. Speaking to media Raju said, “We went to ask him why he beat my brother, he replied that he has been under pressure to conduct the fresher's party. He claimed that my brother interrupted during his announcement.”

Despite a complaint and video evidence of the incident, the Jagtial Town police station haven’t filed a case yet. Speaking to TNM, Circle Inspector Prakash said, “We have approached the High Court for their observation in this case. We haven’t registered any case yet.”
