The News Minute | July 15, 2014 | 10.53 am ISTFive babies died on a single day at the Karnataka Institute of Medical Science hospital in Hubli, raising questions about whether the hospital has adequate facilities.According to a report published by Vijaya Karnataka, the newborn infants had died on Sunday, after which Director of the hospital U S Hingarga initiated an inquiry. Doctors at the hospital have denied that these deaths occurred due to any lapse on their part. The report quoted Dr Prakash Vari, head of obstetrics, as saying that doctors had done everything possible to save the babies. He said that two of the babies weighed less than 1.5 kg, making their survival near impossible. One of babies had passed motion in the uterus, and the woman had been brought in late to the hospital, due to which the baby died. Two babies were still born.
