As the scorching sun makes people’s lives in distress, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that seeks to make water available for animals was filed in the Kerala High Court.

Ravi Shankar, an engineering student from Kochi, filed the PIL on the grounds that the summer heat has been too harsh this time, leading to many water sources drying up. He pointed out that this could have drastic effects on animals.

According to reports, the petitioner sought for pipelines from pumping stations to be established on riverbanks that have dried up and build tanks to store the water. The petitioner also sought for such water storage units made of concrete to be built at least every 500 meters.

The petition further said that the water made available to the animals should be the same water that is purified and used for domestic use.
