Following the nepotism allegations against Kerala’s CPI (M)-led LDF government’s minister following the appointment of his nephew at a top post in a PSU, the Opposition and some party members themselves agreed that the controversy has caused enough damage to its reputation.

The controversy erupted after state Industries Minister EP Jayarajan appointed his nephew Sudheer Nambiar as the Managing Director of KSIE, and was later withdrawn. It has been a setback for the government, that saw the Opposition protesting over private medical college fee hike since the beginning of the assembly session.

Though Kerala Chief Minister had denied the allegations having taken a toll on the government’s reputation, party veteran and Chairman of Administrative Reforms Committee VS Achuthanandan had opined that it certainly did harm the image of the government.

Now, it is learnt that the CPI (M) Polit Bureau is unhappy about the nepotism allegations and wants the state government to take immediate measures to sort out the matters.

According to reports, the decision that was taken by the available polit bureau-9 members out of the total 15- has been conveyed to the Chief Minister as well as the state secretary.

The PB is of the opinion that such controversies are likely to tarnish the image of the government, that rose to power in what was seen as a sweeping victory.
