Abdu Rabb has agreed to give back Rs 2.5 lakh spent for his Iftar party by using state funds, this after an investigative report by Asianet. Malayalam news channel Asianet News found that Rabb collected Rs. 2.5 lakh from different departments of the Education Ministry. The party was organized on July 10 in Thiruvananthapuram and was attended by the Chief Minister and his cabinet, leader of opposition, MLAs and MPs from the state.The Director of the Kerala State Science and Technology Museum and Priyadarshini Planetarium issued a circular to the departments under the Education Ministry to collect and contribute Rs. 46,200 each for a “meeting” (read party) that was held on July 10 which was attended by elected representatives and other government officials. A sum of Rs. 2,31,000 was spent for food alone and was given to Rahamania Hotel of Kollam district.
