The News Minute | June 24, 2014 | 9:27 AM IST The death of a revenue official with links to the Kadakampally and Kalamassery land grab cases has churned controversy in Kerala, with state Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala stepping in and saying the case will be probed by a high ranked police officer.  Prasanna Kumar was found hanging from the bathroom of the de-addiction centre in Noornad on Friday . Left MLA V Sivankutty alleged that the incident was a murder and hence needs to be probed. Chennithala also said that Kumar was not questioned in the Kadakampally case  but his but his statement was recorded in connection with the Kalamassery case. In both the cases, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy's former gunman, Salim Raj's is an accused.Both the cases had grabbed attention for the alleged involvement of Salim Raj, the former gunman of chief minister Oommen Chandy. Investigating officers had said this fact cannot be overlooked. The deceased Kumar handled the file on the Kalamassery land as assistant commissioner at the commissionerate of land revenue.Lately, he has been under going treatment for de-addiction at the centre. His relatives say that some foul play has transpired in Kumar's case. They also allege that Kumar was lying on the cot when the police came.
