Kerala Governor P Sathasivam sets precedent by casting his vote

Going by the records, this is the first time an incumbent Governor is casting his or her vote in an election in Kerala.

Kerala Governor P Sathasivam sets precedence by casting his vote at booth number 68 at Jawahar Nagar Government LP school at Vattiyurkavu in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday, as Kerala goes to the polls. His voting serial number was 1267.

Going by the records, this is the first time an incumbent Governor is casting his or her vote in an election in Kerala.

The Governor and his wife Saraswathy Sathasivam had earlier enrolled online so as to get their names transferred from Tamil Nadu to Kerala’s voting list. He was seen –along with his wife- patiently waiting for his turn in the voting queue.

Governors usually tend to adopt a neutral stance when it comes to voicing their political views and Sathasivam’s gesture is now seen as a departure from the norm. Unlike his predecessors, he has been a very proactive Governor with decided views on socio-political issues that come under his purview.
