A few BJP leaders in Kochi are angry over a police sub-inspector (SI) who shared the picture of Odisha man Dana Majhi in a WhatsApp group with a comment criticising the central government and the BJP.

Dana Majhi was in the news recently for carrying his wife’s body on his shoulder for 10 kms to his village in Odisha, after he failed to get an ambulance.

Local BJP leaders said they would file a complaint with the range IG against the station house officer of Fort Kochi S Dwijesh, for sharing an illustration of Majhi carrying his wife along with a comment, “The man and his daughter walked with his wife's body alongside donkeys, who are ruling for dogs and cows,” The Times of India reports.

The illustration, which resembled the map of India was shared in the group ‘Cochin Open Forum'.

The sketch had been doing the rounds on social media platforms for the last few days, and it was just forwarded by the SI to the group.

However, BJP's West Kochi unit considered it “anti-national,“ and they are firm on their decision to give a complaint.

“We may lodge a complaint with Ernakulam IG and city police commissioner on Monday,” Praveen P D, a BJP leader told ToI.

The city Police Commissioner M P Dinesh also said the SI shouldn't have forwarded the post as it is a breach of code of conduct and said appropriate action will be taken after enquiry.

However Dwijesh said that he just forwarded the post and did not even open it.

“I didn't open it to full size, and hence did not see `India' scribbled below,” he said.
