Accusing Telangana Rashtriya Samiti chief K Chandrasekhar Rao of exhausting the state exchequer by going for early polls, BJP national president Amit Shah said that the vote bank politics will continue to thrive in Telangana if TRS comes back to power. He said that KCR had dissolved the Cabinet for his political selfishness and to further dynasty politics.

Addressing the media on Saturday at the BJP party office in Hyderabad, Amit Shah said that he was shocked after K Chandrashekar Rao, who initially supported the BJP’s vision of ‘one nation, one election’, chose to dissolve the Assembly and go to polls early.

“When BJP put forth the vision of ‘one nation, one election’, KCR supported it. But I was shocked when the party shifted its position. When after 9 months elections were to happen, why did you waste the public money and asking for two elections?” he said.

Telangana was set to go to polls in 2019 along with the General elections.

“The BJP believes that only because of political selfishness, TRS and KCR has put the burden (of two elections) on the people of Telangana,” he added.

He also accused the TRS of playing vote-bank politics. He alleged that KCR did not observe Hyderabad’s independence on 17 September because of pressure from the AIMIM. “This is an assault on Telugu pride. Now also should we give away our pride to Razakars? Telangana people should decide that,” he said.

Speaking about the 12 reservations for minorities, proposed by the TRS government, he said that it was unconstitutional and appeasement for the minorities. He said that if TRS comes back into power, the vote-bank politics will further expand in the state.

Stating that TRS would have to reckon with competition from the BJP in the upcoming Telangana elections, he also reminded KCR of his promise of handing over the CM’s seat to a Dalit. “He may have forgotten about it, but Telangana’s Dalits have not. In 2014, he didn’t give the post to a Dalit, but will he in 2018?” he asked.

He also said that the TRS government had failed to deliver on several promises like a two-bedroom house for the poor and employment for the kin of those who laid their lives down in the struggle for Telangana. He also said that the farmer suicides in the state touched 4,200 under KCR’s rule.

Speaking about the Congress-TDP-Left alliance, he said that the Telugu people haven’t forgotten the mistreatment of former Andhra CM Anjaiah and former PM PV Narasimha Rao.
