The News Minute | October 27, 2014 | 09:17 am IST¬† Disabled people in Karnataka, who are educated but unemployed, are likely to get a Rs 1,000 monthly unemployment allowance according to a proposed scheme by the state government, reports The New Indian Express. The scheme will apply to those who have studied up to standard 10 or above.¬† The proposed scheme, a draft of which has been sent for final approval, will have over 11,000 beneficiaries in the state.¬†Rs 2.16 crore is said to have been allocated for the scheme at present, but the amount could be raised in future, depending on the number of beneficiaries.¬† ‚ÄúThe district disabled welfare officers would be required to check and confirm as to whether the applicant is really a physically challenged person and is unemployed. We are confident that the government will formally announce the scheme soon,‚Ä̬†Director of Department of Disabled Welfare P C Jayanna told The New Indian Express.¬†
