The News Minute | October 27, 2014 | 09:17 am IST  Disabled people in Karnataka, who are educated but unemployed, are likely to get a Rs 1,000 monthly unemployment allowance according to a proposed scheme by the state government, reports The New Indian Express. The scheme will apply to those who have studied up to standard 10 or above.  The proposed scheme, a draft of which has been sent for final approval, will have over 11,000 beneficiaries in the state. Rs 2.16 crore is said to have been allocated for the scheme at present, but the amount could be raised in future, depending on the number of beneficiaries.  “The district disabled welfare officers would be required to check and confirm as to whether the applicant is really a physically challenged person and is unemployed. We are confident that the government will formally announce the scheme soon,” Director of Department of Disabled Welfare P C Jayanna told The New Indian Express.
