Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan has resumed shooting for Vishwaroopam 2, which has been on the back burner for a long time. The team had completed most of the shoot except for a week's schedule. On Thursday, Kamal shared pictures from the sets of the film and was full of praise for the Officers Training Academy (OTA), where they are currently shooting. In his tweet, he wrote: “Shooting for Vishwaroopam 2 and Hindi Vishwaroop 2. Last stint. Exciting. OTA CHENNAI makes the nation & me proud. The only Academy that trains Lady officers in India. I salute the ladies and especially my most favorite lady. India. Maa tujhe salaam.”

The long-delayed sequel to Vishwaroopam, which stars Kamal as an Indian spy also stars Rahul Bose, Andrea Jeremiah and filmmaker Shekhar Kapur in pivotal roles. Sources from Kamal's camp have confirmed that pending work on the project will be finished this month and if everything goes as planned, the film might hit the screens early next year. Only after bringing Vishwaroopam 2 to the screens will Kamal revive Sabash Naidu, a spin-off based on the popular character from Dasavatharam. The project was stalled last year after Kamal fell from his office stairs and fractured his leg.

Post Sabash Naidu, Kamal is expected to work on a bilingual film titled Thalaivan Irukkiran. According to a statement released during the launch of Thalaivan Irukkiran in 2015, it was announced that the film will be made in Hindi as well, and will be titled Amar Hain. While Kamal will play the antagonist, Saif Ali Khan was supposed to play the main lead. Kamal was supposed to return to Bollywood with this project after 18 years, and he had planned to write and direct the project. Talking about his role, in a statement in 2015, Kamal had said: “My character though not that of a conventional antagonist, would present a point of view that is far from ordinary.”

Kamal, who recently made his television debut as the host of Tamil reality show Bigg Boss, also has Indian 2 with director Shankar in his kitty. The project will roll from next year. The project will only go on the floors after the filmmaker is completely relieved off 2.0 while Kamal is expected to wrap up Vishwaroopam 2 and Sabash Naidu. The pre-production of Indian 2, rumoured to be made on a budget of Rs 200 crore, will begin from February 2018. Amidst all these film commitments, Kamal is also rumoured to be taking a political plunge very soon and might even be floating a new party.
