It’s after a decade that actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan has reunited with maestro Ilayaraja for upcoming trilingual comedy Sabaash Naidu. Having worked on numerous memorable films together including hits such as Virumaandi, Hey Ram and Sadma, their last collaboration was the 2005 Tamil comedy Mumbai Express.

Over the last few years, both of them had expressed interest to work together on several occasions but things didn’t fall in place. Raja has already started work on Sabaash Naidu, the latest spin-off on the popular character Balram Naidu from Dasavatharam, and is Haasan is having a ball.

Expressing his excitement, Kamal wrote on his Twitter page: “Working with Raja fun as ever. (I’m) ready to trod the untrodden. (Really) looking forward to that date. When TN meets LA District 78 of LA.”

The regular shooting of the project starts from May 16 in the U.S, where most of the film will be shot. The plot revolves around a kidnapping case, which Haasan and his sidekick Appa Rao, to be played by Brahmanandam, will take up.

The film features Haasan and his daughter as father-daughter on the screen for the first time. To be directed by T.K Rajeev Kumar, the film also stars Ramya Krishnan, Saurabh Shukla, Ananth Mahadevan and Roger Narayan.
