On Keerthy Suresh’s birthday, Kalyani Priyadarshan wrote her birthday wishes on her Facebook page besides confirming that both of them are part of Mohanlal’s Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham. Her Facebook post confirms the news.
Kalyani Priyadarshan posted: “Keerthy Suresh….Don’t think our parents would’ve had ever thought two silly looking things like us would turn out the way we did. Happy birthday Kitty!! I’ve already told you how amazing it is that you have managed to top yourself every year and last year was seriously peak levels, so I can’t wait to see how you beat yourself this time! Good luck for SandaKozhi2 and #Sarkar! (And obviously can’t wait for us to get together for #marakkar in December).”
Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham is based on the true life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. It may be mentioned here that the title ‘Kunjali Marakkar’ was bestowed on naval chiefs during the 16th century and these naval chiefs fought valiantly against the Portuguese army. There were four Kunjali Marakkars during that era, of which the fourth is the most valiant and popular. The film is based on his life.
It will be produced jointly by Antony Perumbavoor, Santhosh T. Kuruvilla and C.J. Roy under their respective banners. Being historical, extravagant sets need to be erected for the shooting, particularly for the sea warfare scenes and this will be handled by the National Award winning production designer Sabu Cyril. It may be mentioned here that the art director and Priyadarshan share a good rapport having worked together in over 40 films.
Reports about the star cast of this film are that the director has roped in Tamil actor Prabhu, Bollywood star Suneil Shetty and Telugu hero Nagarjuna to play significant roles. Also, Pranav Mohanlal will be making a cameo appearance in it and he will be seen playing the younger version of his dad’s role.
The prep work for this high budget film has begun already with the team gearing up to begin shooting from November onwards.
