The family of South Indian actor Kalabhavan Mani has sought a comprehensive probe into his mysterious death.

A letter in this regard was sent by the actor's wife Nimme to state Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, and in turn been handed over to the state DGP, official sources said.

The actor, who was suffering from serious liver and kidney ailments, had passed away on March 6.

Doctors of a private hospital who had treated him had found traces of methyl alcohol in his blood after which police had registered a case of unnatural death.

The viscera samples of Mani, which were examined at the Regional Chemical examiner's laboratory at Kakkanad in Kochi, had found presence of a dangerous insecticide chlorpyrifos.

DGP T P Senkumar had also made it clear that police would not come to any conclusion hurriedly and the probe would be held in a scientific manner.

Members of Mani's family, including his wife Nimmi and brother R L V Ramakrishnan, had raised suspicion about the involvement of his friends and aides in his death.
