Kajal Aggarwal has been roped in to play the female lead in the Tamil remake of the blockbuster hit Queen. The film went on to the floors recently in Chennai amidst a lot of fanfare.

Speaking at the event, Kajal had said that right from the time she had seen the original, she wanted to do the role in the remake and was glad when the offer came to her.

In this regard, she was quoted as saying, “It’s a project very close to my heart. When I saw Queen, I told myself I’d love to adapt the film in some other language. We’d like to prove a point with this project.”

When Kajal was asked if she could do justice to the role done by Kangna Ranaut, she said, “I’m not looking forward to filling in anyone’s shoes in this role. We are recreating the film in another language. I treat this as an original, in my own way.”

Veteran actor and director Ramesh Arvind, who is wielding the megaphone for the remake said, “It’s an honor to be a part of this project. I’m directing the Kannada as well as Tamil versions. We are delighted to collaborate with Kajal whom I consider the perfect combination of beauty, talent, and enthusiasm.”

The film will be shot extensively in Paris, London and Barcelona. It may be mentioned here that Ramesh Aravind is directing the Kannada remake as well. The film’s shooting is currently in progress with Parul Yadav playing the lead role.

In the Malayalam version, Manjima Mohan is said to have signed on the dotted line to play the female lead. Earlier, there were reports that actor Revathi would direct the Tamil remake with Tammannah in the lead but the project eventually went to Kajal.
