The wait is finally over! It’s second Pongal time for Thalaiva’s fans across the globe as the teaser of his new movie Kabali released on May,1.
A lot of buzz was being generated about the teaser as fans were expecting the teaser to become a bigger hit than Vijay’s ‘Theri’ and Ajith Kumar’s ‘Vedalam’ teasers.
Vijay’s Theri teaser garnered more than 3 lakh likes on YouTube. It holds the record for getting the most number of likes for a Tamil movie teaser. Ajith Kumar’s Vedalam teaser comes a distant second with over 1.45 lakhs likes.
Kabali is expected to break all the records as Rajinikanth has a huge fan following not only in South India but also across the country and even overseas. Rajnikanth wears his greying, suave and slick gangster avatar with ease, and Radhika Apte makes a quick cameo. The teaser also features a punchline that will go down as one of his signature ones.
“A typical thug in Tamil films with a wart, twirling his moustache, lungi-clad. As soon as villain Nambiyar calls out “Ey Kabali”, the thug will bend and say "At your service". You think I am that Kabali? I am KABALI da."
The release date of the movie, directed by Pa. Ranjith, is not out yet. Actor Rajinikanth was said to have completed the dubbing for his portions in the film last week.
The film also stars Radhika Apte, Kalaiarasan, Dhansikaa, Dinesh and Ritwika. The crime-drama has music scored by Santhosh Narayanan.
