After striking gold with last year’s horror-comedy Sangili Bungili Kathavu Thorae, Jiiva has two interesting projects in his kitty. He had recently signed a heist comedy titled Gorilla, which will feature a real chimp in a crucial role.

The film’s team will soon head to Thailand for a month-long schedule to shoot a predominant portion. On Monday, it was announced that Jiiva has signed another film titled Gypsy, a social drama with director Raju Murugan, known for helming Cuckoo and the critically-acclaimed Joker. Raju Murugan is currently penning the dialogues for Bala’s Varma, the Tamil remake of Arjun Reddy.

According to a statement, Jiiva immensely liked the story of Gypsy as it was both different and unique. Murugan, who has until now made films that have focused on social structures, will look to make Gypsy as a commercial entertainer with social consciousness. The director and his unit will be shooting at various places across the country for the project, slated to go on the floors from March.

The film will be produced by S Ambedkumar under the banner of Olympia Movies. Jiiva currently awaits the release of Sundar C’s Kalakalappu 2, slated to hit the screens on Friday. He also has the psychological thriller Kee, which will shine the spotlight on the ill effects of modern technology, in his kitty. Kee is expected to hit the screens later this month.
